Visualisation of how Piccadilly
Plaza may look after renovation by owners Bruntwood Properties Ltd. It was completed in
1965 and was Manchester's first post-war office and retail development. On the right
is how it looked on Thursday 30 September 2004. Sunley Tower, named after the developer
who built it, has been renamed City Tower.
Piccadilly Plaza is one of Manchester's biggest, most iconic and most criticised buildings. For various reasons it means a lot to me personally. I'm sure the coming refurbishment by Bruntwood Properties will give it a new lease of life. I hope that they will retain as many of the original features as possible.
