Karen McBride is a Manchester-based rock photographer who has worked with many famous artists.
In autumn 2009 she decided to go on a diet.
Many people who try to go on a diet fail to meet their target and give up, so to ensure the diet would be a success she decided on a three point plan:
First she would use the diet to raise money for a charity. The charity she chose was Cancer Research. She reckoned that people would be more likely to support her by donating money rather than trying to tempt her to eat fattening food.
Second she joined a dieting group, Slimming World. Members of Slimming World go to weekly meetings where they are given help and encouragement. They are also weighed on a regular basis so they can monitor their progress.
Third she resolved to have a very special photograph taken of her once she had achieved her target.
After five weeks dieting she was starting losing weight but how much? How much weight does she want to lose and over what time period?

Will she achieve her goal? How much money will she raise for Cancer Research? How is she going to look in the photograph? Keep track of her progress at karenmcbride.wordpress.com.
