Information for people working in the media

I am frequently contacted by people working in radio, tv, the press and other media. It could be to request an interview, or to seek help with some research problem. I'm always happy to do interviews or share my knowledge with people in the media. I appreciate the coverage and I enjoy doing talking on air or on camera!

I have done many interviews on radio and TV. My photos and writing provide interesting subject matter for news, documentaries and general interest programmes.

I have been interviewed a number of times on Radio Manchester, including the Phil and Gail show, the morning show with Eamonn O'Neal and Dianne Oxberry, on the MIke Shaft afternoon show and on 'Talk of the Town' with Tony Wilson. In 2006 I had a five minute spot on the programme 'My North West' made by Baker Media. I have been interviewed on Channel M and in Feburary 2007 was interviewed live on the nightly Channel M news programme.

I've also been interviewed by magazines and newspapers, who have used my photos to illustrate articles about me.

Here are my specialist subjects:

  • The recent development of Manchester and in particular...
  • Campaigning in favour of conservation and against unnecessary demolition
  • Celebrating the best of modern architecture in Manchester and around the world
  • The image of Manchester


I also have a wide knowledge and experience of my 'home' cities: Dublin, Dubai, Berlin, New York, Leipzig, Dresden, Manila.

There are many other subjects I feel strongly about and can talk about in an interview: Digital photography, how to develop a highly successful website, language learning...

I have strong opinions on many subjects, but not sport, celeb gossip or contemporary music! I may be able to recommend someone to talk on those subjects!

Help with research
I have considerable ocal knowledge, centred primarily on Manchester, but extending to Liverpool and the wider North West region. I have provided free assistance with documentaries and other programmes.

For instance, I helped a Welsh language TV crew from ITV Wales to find the birthplace of Lloyd George in Manchester. They also interviewed me - in English - for the programme, a documentary about the life of Lloyd George.

My unique way of working, my high ranking website, my groundbreaking use of digital photography over 10 years, my insider knowledge of Manchester, the trials and tribulations of my 5 years in the Gulf and my experiences there, my special creative projects... all these themes could provide good subject matter for interviews.
