Close up of the street sign on Keppel Road where it meets Wilbraham Road near the centre of Chorlton. Keppel Rd is famous as the childhood home of the Bee Gees. They lived on this street until 1958. In 2002 the two remaining brothers bought the house. More on Manchester Online. Keppel Rd is also the name of a documentary on the life of the Bee Gees, released in 1996. This image was taken for my 2004 EWM Chorlton Photo feature to be made live during the Chorlton Arts Festival Saturday 22 to Saturday 29 May. The whitewashed brickwork, weeds, wires and festive green bulb are pleasing visual adornments to the sign, which like nearly all street signs in the City of Manchester is of plain and functional design.
