The Eastgate Clock on Chester city walls is the most familiar and most photographed symbol of the city. As the plaque states, it was completed in 1897 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's reign.

The Eastgate clock is regarded as the most familiar and most cliched image of Chester. I tried hard not to photograph it but it's such a fascinating object I couldn't help it. A group of Japanese tourists were fascinated with it too. I have tried to capture it from a slightly more unusual angle.
