The Granada TV office building on Quay Street in the centre of Manchester is seen here at dusk on 25 January 1998. This photo couldn't be taken now as the esure.com building has appeared on the site of the car park, blocking the view. The Granada Building was the first commercial building to be constructed in Manchester after the War. It was designed by Ralph Tubbs.

As a consequence of the merger of Granada and Carlton there is a possibility the building may be vacated and demolished. The Granada Building, including its illuminated 60's style red lettering, is very significent for Manchester and the North West, and has many associations. I remember as a child watching the Granada close of transmission sequence, with the building ligths being switched off one by one.
