We are looking down Stenner Lane, Didsbury towards the Church of St James and Emmanuel, Didsbury Parish Church. In this wintry view the trees are bare of leaves. The church is protected by wrought iron railings and gates. Beyond the church is the River Mersey. This image taken from an old postcard postmarked 'Didsbury 23 August 1906'. This is a black and white halftone image which has been delicately hand-tinted. This is a far more sophisticated and visually pleasing image than most of todays commercial postcards.
