St George's Church is symbolic of the enormous changes that have taken place in Manchester. Once a place of worship in the midst of a once fashionable residential district, by the 1980s the area had transformed, the congregation had gone, and the church stood empty.

Around 2000 it was converted for residential use. The conversion won an award.
