In 1993 Gary Rowlands completed a photo portfolio of the people who worked at Salford Royal Hospital, which was about to close. The photos were displayed at Salford's Viewpoint Gallery, which has also closed.

These superbly crafted black and white photos capture the individuality of the person whilst bringing in details of the hospital environment, which looks decidedly quaint and old-fashioned. They provide a lasting record of a hospital which has a special significance for many people from the local area.
