The Lowry arts centre as it looked around dusk on 30 April 2000. The striking outline of the building stands out on the horizon. The Millennium footbridge is on the left. Construction work on neighbouring buildings has commenced on the right. Only a few years later, this view of the Lowry would be obscured by neighbouring buildings. It's a shame they could not have been built at a distance from the building. The Lowry was designed by architect Michael Wilford. He produced the original designs with his colleague, the late James Stirling. More info on the Lowry website.
