The Peveril of the Peak is one of Manchester's most celebrated pubs. It has a unique triangular shape and shiny pea green exterior tiles. Here, artist Caroline Johnson has conveyed the effect of the tiles by overlaying upside down text. In the background is the facade of Chepstow House. St James's Buildings can be seen upper right and on the far right, the Tootals building. In the artist's own words: Great Bridgewater St., Castlefield. Named after the stagecoach which travelled from Manchester to London, and ‘arguably Manchester’s most famous pub’. Technical details
