Ilyushin 18 of the GDR (East German) airline Interflug, which, like the GDR, ended in 1990. The aircraft was photographed on display near Leipzig in 1994. The propellors have been manipulated with 'rotation blur' to simulate the turning of the blades.

When I was working at Manchester Airport in 1982, the Leipzig Gewandhaus orchestra were flown from Leipzig to Manchester in an Ilyushin 18. Both aircraft and musicians were a very unusual sight in Manchester. After the concert, the aircraft flew back to the GDR but a few of the musicians didn't, preferring to claim asylum in the UK rather than return to their Soviet-dominated 'Heimat' or homeland.
