Ths statue of Marx and Engels is one of Berlin's most famous statues and a popular place for people to have their photographs taken. Manchester connection: Friedrich Engels lived and worked in Manchester and studied the plight of the working classes there. The statue is located in the area called Marx-Engels-Forum between the TV tower and the Spree. The slightly comical double-life-size statue of Marx and Engels stands as a monument to Communism and its failures, though neither Marx nor Engels should be blamed.
