A section of the wall has been left in place along Bernauer Straße as a memorial and reminder. The nearby Documentation Centre on the Berlin Wall provides information and exhibits on the Berlin Wall and the division of Germany.

Some of the most infamous incidents took place along Bernauer Straße. This is the best preserved section of wall and is closest to how it actually was.
