The new Jewish Synagogue in Dresden is of monolithic design with a stone windowless building at one end of the site, which is located next to the tram stop named 'Synagoge'. The building was designed by Wolfgang Lorch, and opened on 9 November 2001.

Each layer of stone slabs is laid at an angle to the next layer, so the exterior walls turn as they rise, giving interesting shadow effects as the sun moves around.
