Next to Blackrock railway station, now part of the DART system, there is a disused outdoor swimming pool. This is the view from the footbridge looking north towards the chimneys of Ringsend power station. This structure built of concrete is typical of outdoor lidos built in the 1930s. There is a paddling pool, a diving board, a stepped terrace similar to a football stadium. The pools are silted up with moss growing, the concrete is cracked and eroded. The pool has not been used for many years. It's a great pity that on a glorious June day like today, this pool is not availble for people to use.
