The N7 between Limerick and Dublin at Ballybrittas Co Laois looking east towards Monasterevin Co Kildare. Monasterevin is another 4.3 miles (7km) and Dublin 41 miles (67km) The Maxol petrol station has unleaded at 85.6 cents, diesel at 76.5. It's almost the same number of cents as pence in the UK - not far off one third cheaper. Since I took this photograph, another section of the M7 motorway has opened, bypassing this section of the N7. Thanks to Brian Fitzgerald for updating me on this and confirming the location. Ireland's roads have a very high accident rate. View this Irish roadside memorials site including one in Ballybrittas.
