James Joyce bridge was opened in 2003 and was designed by Santiago Calatrava. It is a contemporary style metal suspension bridge. Here riverside buildings are reflected in the glass panes on the eastern side. On the other side of the river is a poster showing James Joyce, The film 'The Dead' based on his story of the same name is set in the house, which is currently under renovation.

The bridge is beautiful in a contemporary way, but you could argue that it clashes in style with the Georgian setting. Would a more low-key bridge have been more appropriate for this location?
