Butt Bridge was opened in 1878 and rebuilt in 1932. It is named after Isaac Butt, leader of the Home Rule movement. Next to Butt Bridge is the railway loop line bridge with Guinness advert and clock face. Rising up against the blue sky are the four towers of the Ulster Bank centre. I can remember the tinsel-covered advert which used to be on the railway bridge. Even as a child I wondered why they had built the bridge so close to the Custom House, cutting off the view from O'Connell Bridge.
