The Stena Line fast ferry arriving in Dun Laoghaire harbour after the 90 minute crossing from Holyhead in North Wales. In the distance is the Hill of Howth to the north of Dublin Bay.

The Stena HSS is a miracle of contemporary water-borne transport: a vessel with a deck area the size of a football field that can move at nearly 50 miles per hour. It's a far cry from the mailboats Cambria and Hibernia which I travelled on as a child in the 1960's.
