Entrance to the Queensway Tunnel at Old Haymarket Liverpool city centre, captured in the late 1950s by Brother Anselm Keogh. We are standing in St John's Gardens looking over brightly coloured flower beds towards the entrance to the Queensway Tunnel.

Four rear platform type buses are visible, in Liverpool green and cream livery, the closest with an ad for Walker House on its side. A white Austin Cambridge - the earliest model from the mid 1950s - is crossing towards the right beyond the green-painted bus stop.

Many features visible now will later disappear: The art deco style pillar in the middle of the roundabout, the attrative hexagonal style lampost on the right. The uninterrupted view of the facade of the building on the right will later be obscured by a flyover bridge leading to Dale St upper right.

A marvellous glimpse of a lost Liverpool, captured on Kodachrome by Brother Anselm Keogh.
