General view of the tee clipper Cutty Sark, permanently moored next to the River Thames at Greenwich. This photo taken March 2003 just over 4 years before the disastrous fire. Much of the Cutty Sark was seriously damaged by fire on the morning of Monday 21st of May, 2007. Due to renovation work, many parts had been removed and so were saved from destruction. It is shocking that this precious relic of earlier times has been damaged. It can and will be restored to its former glory, though aspects of the original craftsmanship are now lost forever.
