Two plane spotters sit and watch the red and white Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 aircraft as it is about to take off. This area to the south of Runway 2 belongs to the National Trust property of Styal Country Park, and is not dedicated for use by plane spotters. 22 years after seeing one of these gigantic aircraft for the first time at Manchester Airport, the sight of the Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 taking off is still awe-inspiring.
