Flowers, messages and a 12 inch vinyl record have been left on the corner of Whitworth Street West in the centre of Manchester.

The message on the record label reads:

"Tony Wilson.... you epitomised everything the music industry should be: creative, exciting, full of risks. You single-handedly made Manchester a centre of the musical universe. A giant among men in the music industry. Thank you for all the music you have brought to us. You will be sadly missed. Another of my heroes passes away...."
