View south along Kingsway towards Mauldeth Road. The inner lane is a bus lane, marked with a red surface. Part of the pavement is taken up with a cycle lane. This 'quality bus corridor' dates from around 2000-2005.

On the left are semi-detached homes built around the 1920s. Kingsway dates from the 1920s and like Princess Road is a major southern route. Much of South Manchester's leafy suburban districts were built around the 20s and 30s on former farmland.. Trams once ran along the central reservation of Kingsway. At this point there is a gentle slope coming up to the bridge over the disused South Manchester Loop Line. Kingsway is part of the A34 which begins at Albert Square and runs south through the Potteries, Birmingham and beyond. The A34 dual carriageway through north Birmingham looks very similar to Kingsway.
