Whitworth Lane runs behind the Owens Park student halls of residence, Fallowfield, part of Manchester University. It leads from Old Hall Lane, and providing vehicle access to the halls and adjoining buildings. The southernmost section - visible here - leading to Mosley Road is for pedestrians and cyclists only.

This location will be familiar to thousands of students who live or have lived at Owens Park halls of residence during their years studying in Manchester. But why was it called 'Lover's Lane'.
