The M60 motorway at Daisy Nook dips down slightly before climbing north towards Oldham and south towards Ashton. This is where the motorway crosses the River Medlock, a small meandering river which flows to the south of Manchester city centre. This is the scene at dusk, viewed from Lumb Lane bridge. The motorway is surprisingly photogenic, especially at dusk. This photo was taken for the book but not chosen.
