In September 2003, streets in Manchester's Northern Quarter were turned into an imaginary version of New York for the filming of 'Alfie', a remake of the 1960's classic.
This part of Manchester looked amazingly convincing as New York. For many years I have been pointing out the parallels between Manchester and New York. I wasn't involved in the film - This photo was taken after shooting was completed before the props were taken down.
