The junction of Barlow Moor Road and Palatine Road is an important axis in South Manchester. Palatine Road runs from north east to south west from Withington and across the Mersey into Northenden. Barlow Moor Road runs from south east to north west through Didsbury and Chorlton. The half-timbered shop fronts are an attractive feature, and retain some of Didsbury's Victorian quality, much of which has been lost through demolition new construction and the poor state of the roads and trees. The 1930s signpost on the left is broken and neglected, unlike a similar one in Wythenshawe. The modern direction sign points to the Northern Tennis and Squash Club www.thenorthern.co.uk/. The yellow sign advertises Moor Allerton Preparatory School www.moorallertonschool.manchester.sch.uk/
