Looking north along Palatine Road between Barlow Moor Rd and Parkfield Rd South. The trees have grown so much that they almost completely obscure the houses. The branches meet above the road. Visitors to Manchester from the Victorian era would be shocked to see how overgrown the trees are today. Up till the 1960s, trees were regularly pruned. Today, due to the improved air quality, they are growing higher and thicker than ever. Trees are like hair: They need to be cut and kept tidy.
