Construction on the Beetham Tower next to GMEX, as it looked at 3.06pm Tuesday 31 May 2005. A tram is passing in its way into Manchester city centre. The Beetham Tower is a mixture of hotel and residential, comprising a 285 bed Hilton Hotel up to the 23rd floor and 219 apartments from levels 25 to 47. It will be 507 feet (156 metres) tall.
