Looking up at the tower of the John Owens Building on Oxford Rd Manchester, part of Manchester University. Excluding all contemporary elements at street level we can imagine how the building might have looked in earlier times, however it must have looked like this only for the first few years. Until around the 1970s, like most stone buildings in Manchester, it was covered in a layer of grime left by pollution from the factories.
