Picture: Manchester Urbis Centre July 2002, 7+ years before closure in 2010 » Filename: ManUrbisCISRainDusk2704.jpg

Rainy dusk view of the Urbis Centre, Manchester's museum of the modern city. This photo was taken on the 4th of July 2002 not long after Urbis opened. Urbis closed on Saturday 27 March 2010 and will reopen in 2011 as the National Football Museum.

The loss of Urbis and its groundbreaking exhibitions on music and popular culture, is a big loss to Manchester and will have hidden consequences. The closure of Urbis was due to financial considerations. Urbis is owned by Manchester City Council. The images on the aidan.co.uk home page are randomly recycled according to visitor clicks. This image re-appeared on the home page on Wednesday 3 March 2010, just a few days after the closure of Urbis.
