An empty M60 motorway on 16 July 2000 seen from the A635 looking north towards Oldham. The overhead gantries have been erected, but the signs still have to be added. The slip road on the right still needs to be surfaced and the lines painted.

Not long before the final stretch of the M60 motorway opened, an organised walk took place along the tarmac.
