The oil-fired power station Fiddlers Ferry dominates the landscape for many miles around. Its power hall and six gigantic cooling towers can be seen from 30 miles away. Here it is seen across the wide expanse of the River Mersey above Widnes.

Power stations are stunning photographic subjects, massive and ever-changing according to light, time of day, and angle of view.
