Candon Cathedral in the town of Candon, province of Ilocos Sur, in the north west Philippines. Most churches of the Philippines are in the architectural style of the Spanish, who ruled the Philippines from the 18th century to 1898. The heritage left by the Spanish is part of the culture of the Philippines. Even the smallest towns in the remotest parts of the Philippines have a magnificent church or cathedral, often several hundred years old.
