One of over 3000 tricycles operating in the town of Daet, south east of Manila. Each town has a specific livery and tricycle desig, and are constructed from sheet metal and painted by local craftsmen. The motorcycle powering the vehicle is invariably a Honda, Kawasaki or other Japanese make. For a short journey the fare is about 4 or 5 pesos (4p or 6c)

The tricycle is a great way of getting around - They're cheap and easy to find, they're reasonably safe as the speeds are not very high, you're shrouded from view but you can still see a lot through the open door. I also like the tricycle designs and colours. Like the Jeepney, they are an outlet for vehicle design and customisation in a country with no auto industry of its own.
