Richard Boon, a school friend of Howard Devoto, was manager of the Buzzcocks throughout their career. He came from an art school background and after helping out with the organisation of gigs, became manager 'by default'.

Whilst interviewing Pete Shelley at the Russell Club in 1978 I briefly met Richard Boon who was wearing his characteristic multicolour striped jacket.
