Looking north along the A6 Wellington Road North. This long straight road dates from the first half of the 19th century and runs through Stockport, becoming Wellington Rd South at the Mersey. We are standing next to the bus stop by Brantwood Rd looking towards Heaton Moor Lane. In front of us is a speed camera with marker lines on the road. The speed limit here is 30 mph. A bus lane is on the left.

See location on Multimap. It's a common misconception that car drivers must never use bus lanes. This bus lane is in operation only at peak hours. At other times, car drivers must use the bus lane. They must keep to the left, as if the bus lane didn't exist.
