The spire of St Matthew's Church Edgeley extends upwards into dark rain clouds. A sloping roof is punctuated by four chimney stacks, some adorned with tv aerials. This was the view from platform 4 of Stockport (Edgeley) Station at around 4.30pm on the afternoon of Tuesday 3 November 2009.

I was struck by the silhouetted outline of the buildings and the contrast with the leaden sky, coloured pale gold by the afternoon sun. The outlines have a quality of the work of artist Trevor Grimshaw.
