Naturalistas de Vulto is a historical drama-documentary profiling some of the most important naturalists who have visited Madeira. Three 25 minute long programmes are to cover the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Figures portrayed include Sir Joseph Banks, Hans Sloane, Byron and many others. The programme is currently in planning, though a trailer has been made. For more information, please contact. On my May 2005 visit to Madeira I met Rui Vieira Silva, producer of Naturalistas de Vulto. He showed me a copy of the trailer which looks impressive, with great cinematography and convincing dramatisations of historical scenes. The programmes are initially targeted at the Portuguese language market, but could be of interest to a wider audience.
