The atrium of the Burj Al Arab is crowned by a triangular ceiling. The most precious materials were used to decorate the hotel in the style of a palace. At the bottom there is a fountain which was specially designed for this hotel. Automatically controlled water jets dance and clap in the style of Arabic music. Every twenty minutes a powerful jet of water is projected up into the Atrium, and is said to reach the ceiling.

The exterior wall on the east side is made of material, as in a traditional Arab tent. In Spring 2000, an overnight stay at the Burj Al Arab can cost anything from £800 ($1200) per night. It's possible to visit the hotel by paying 200 dirhams, which you can then spend in hotel. In this way we were able to have breakfast in royal style without having to spend our entire travel allowance.

Das Atrium des Burj Al Arab ist mit einer dreieckigen Decke gekrönt. Die kostbarsten Materialien wurden benutzt, um das Hotel im Stil eines Palasts zu verschönern. Unten steht ein Springbrunnen, der von einer kalifornischen Firma extra für dieses Hotel entworfen wurde. Automatisch gesteuerte Wasserstrahlen tanzen und klatschen wie der Rhythmus der arabischen Musik. Alle 20 Minuten geht ein kräftiger Wasserspritz ins Atrium hoch, der fast die Decke erreicht.

Die Aussenwand auf östlicher Seite wurde im Stil eines arabischen Zeltes aus Stoff angefertigt. Eine Übernachtung kostet zur Zeit unseres Besuches (Frühjahr 2000) ab 2400 DM pro Nacht. Jedoch dürfen Tagesbesucher das Hotel betreten, wenn sie 200 Dirham, (zirka 50DM) bezahlen, und dafür einen Gutschein erhalten, welche im Hotel ausgegeben werden kann. Wir haben im Cafe in königlicher Weise gefrühstückt, ohne unser ganzes Reisegeld auszugeben. (Übersetzung von Isabella Turner)
