It's 1994 and this is the view across the Creek nature reserve towards Sheikh Zayed Road. A single line of buildings marks the path of Sheikh Zayed Road, main highway to the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.

he scene exudes an aura of freshness predating the era of large scale development in Dubai. The Emirates Towers and other landmarks have yet to appear. This photo was taken during the Eid break in spring 1994.
