Sheikh Zayed Road is the main highway from UAE capital Abu Dhabi to the south. Road signs point to destinations within Dubai, such as Bur Dubai and Za'abeel, as well as the emirates to the north: Sharjah, Ajmanm, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and to the east, Fujairah.

Like the Etisalat or Telecom buildings the signs have the effect of binding the UAE into a unified national idenitity.
