Dubai Burj Al Arab Hotel just after sunset seen from the nearby public beach. The luxury hotel is shaped like a sail and built on its own island. Here the glass facade on the south west side reflects the last rays of dusk, while the eastern side, covered in tent-like fabric, is lit up in white. The main entrance is at the foot of the building, where the orange lights are.

This is my favourite modern building in the world. It's no longer possible to take the hotel from this viewpoint without gaining access to the new Madina Jumeirah hotel complex, built on the once freely accessible municipal beach.
