The southern part of Sharjah is built around a wide oval- shaped lagoon which is connected to the Gulf via a channel. Apartment blocks are grouped around the lagoon, with many new ones under construction. Here the setting sun is about to drop behind apartment blocks of various sizes. We are looking from the edge of the water under a palm tree. A boat is making its way across the lagoon, which is bathed in the orange glow of the sunset.

Middle Eastern sunsets are a striking photographic subject, but you have to move fast as the sun moves below the horizon very quickly.
