The flyover across the A6 at the eastern end of the Mancunian Way is an example of 1990's construction styles, including pillars with parallel sides and exposed metal girders on the underside of the roadway. The junction improvement was opened in 1992 by the Lord Mayor William Egerton. By coincidence his surname is also the name of the road at the western end of the Mancunian Way.

The plaque carries the City of Manchester coat of arms with the following text in upper case letters:

City of Manchester
A6 / Mancunian Way
Junction improvement
This plaque commemorates the official
opening of the new viaduct and
associated highway works on
4th September 1992
by
The Right Worshipful
The Lord Mayor of Manchester
Councillor William Egerton JP
