Victoria Station, once a run down and depressing corner of Manchester, has been revitalised and stands as a distinctive piece of Victorian railway architecture. At the top of the facade, the words 'Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway' point to the economic power of northern England in late Victorian times, and are a reminder of Manchester's Lancashire identity and historic links with Yorkshire. | |||
