View of the Salford cityscape as seen from
Manchester city centre. In the 1960s a new high rise Salford
sprang up on the demolished site of the district known as 'Hanky
Park'. It was never successful as a place to live - I know, I
lived there from February to December 1985. Some blocks have been
demolished but the rest remain and are being renovated. From here I can
see the windows of my old council flat three floors from the top of
Thorn Court, the red brick block on the left. Rising up in the centre
is the spire of Salford Cathedral.
