|In March 2000 Murrays Mill has
been standing empty for quite a few years now. The windows have been
filled with protective wooden inserts, designed to protect the building
pending future renovation. But how will it be possible to bring
these buildings back into use? Millions of pounds of investment will be
required. Where is it going to come from and when will it happen?
In May 2005 the facade is covered in scaffolding and protective plastic sheeting as part of a major repair project. As stated on the banner, Ancoats Buildings Preservation Trust are the initiators of the project, funding has come from the Northwest Regional Development Agency and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Project sponsors and supporters include Manchester City Council, New East Manchester and others. The strapline reads: 'Regenerating Manchester's Industrial Heritage'. Soon the work will be completed and the mills of Ancoats will have been given a new lease of life.
